Well, I’ve pissed off the Facebook design team, now it’s time to piss of David and Marco (although I really hope I don’t). I’m going to come out and say it: I really, really dislike the new Tumblr beta. It feels clunky and awkward, and I think it’s a huge step backwards in exchange for a few small usability improvements (wider dashboard, larger type, easy tumblog switching). Of course, I have no idea how far along it is, and I’m sure it’s a work in progress, but I got bored this weekend and decided that instead of posting some whiny diatribe about why I didn’t like it, I could mockup what I think it should look like. It’s still pretty rough and undeveloped - I’d by no means present this as a finished product - but I thought I’d share it nonetheless. Click the image above (or here) to view my mockup. I’ve also posted a side-by-side comparison on Flickr.Staff, take notice.
